Why “Scrapple & Eggs”?

Intro Add comments

The real answer to that question is: Because when I tried to start this blog under the title “Cornflakes & Bananas”, it didn’t work. So you get “Scrapple & Eggs” instead.

People tell you that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Bullshit! The most important meal of the day is the one that makes you forget that you’re friggin’ starving.

Not that there’s anything wrong with breakfast, mind you. I myself am a big fan. I like fried scrapple and eggs and toast with butter and jelly and fried potatoes and a nice glass of iced tea. But I don’t see what’s particularly healthy about any of that. Nuthin’ but a whole bunch of carbs and cholesterol with a smattering of protein to justify its existence. But it tastes good, and if you’re hungry, it hits the spot.

I expect this blog will be much the same way. Nothing healthy, educational, or morally redeeming about it. But if you’re bored, it might occassionally hit the spot.

I’d rather have bacon than scrapple. Probably because I didn’t grow up with the stuff.

Mmmm… bacon, fried eggs, toast, raspberry jam, a glass of orange juice and a small cup of coffee in the morning, and I can face almost anything the world throws at me for the day.

Oh great, I just made myself hungry!

Best meal of the day is breakfast for dinner. Especially if it’s the first thing I’ve eaten, which is pretty much the norm for me anymore. 4 or 5 PM rolls around and I’m like “Whats this horrible feeling….this horrible, awful feeling of pain and emptiness, this feeling that makes me wanna punch babies?? Oh, yeah, it’s an insane amount of hunger cuz I haven’t had anything to eat since yesterday!” Needless to say, it’s a great night for my HOME MADE biscuits, fried apples and sausage gravy, mmmm mmmm. It took me a month to figure out what scrapple was when I first moved here, I was too embarrassed to ask anyone.

(Disclaimer: I have never and will never punch a baby, lol)

    Biscuits and sausage gravy….mmmmmmmmm.

Breakfast for dinner is always a treat. Only problem…beer doesn’t go quite as well with pancakes and sausage as it does with steak or chicken :)

I’ve never punched a baby first, either.

(It’s a joke. If you don’t like it, scram.)

Six months later, I want a Tremendous Twelve.

    This is all your fault!
