With the change of season (temp wise) it seems more people are getting pissy. I will write about today at work. I get in about quater to 7 this woman is there telling me she needs to do something asap and her screens are black I walk over and look her pc is off so I turn it on she then asks is there any way to speed the boot process of course I tell her no. I get a cup of coffee go back to my desk and she is standing there telling me the screens went black and it is really important to get this out by 8 am so again I walk over and the pc is off (this woman always pulls stuff like this when something important needs to be done) so I turn it back on this time I waited till she was logged in then walk away about 5 minutes later she comes back and says there black again (the screens) this time I am catching on so I tell her to use the pc next to hers she then tries to tell me that she cant her work is on her computer. I then inform her of company policy not to save anything important on the local drive she is only suppose to save on her network drive. She doesnt want to her that and calls her boss and tells her I wont help her (little does she know that she is setting herself up for major failure) so I am now talking to her boss and I tell her about saving locally and the policy she (the boss) asks if there is anything I can do to “make” it work I say I dont think so the pc is probally shot (I am BS ing her now) so we hang up I walk back over turn the pc on and went hmm sounds like the muffler bearing is going I will stand her while you move the file to the network so you can finish within 15 minutes to get it out by 8 well this time she goes to log in and now she “forgets” her password so I call my buddy in NY have him unlock the account and set the password this time I typed it lol. I open word and look at the last file open nope thats not it the machine “ate” it (she never did it is more than likely) so I tell her nothing I can do you broke policy and walked away. Her boss gets in and is wondering why my boss is not there I tell her could be traffic . She then asks me to come look at the machine so I walk over the screens are black (off again) I tell the boss I dont know why it is doing that I asked the user are you getting a BSOD she tells me she doesnt know what that is. I stand there about 20 minutes pc is fine . I leave get to my desk (my boss is now in) I am telling him the story when we see both of them coming he has just enough of the story to know what she was doing. So the boss says I went to the bathroom and came back and she says the pc “died” again and this piece needed to go out 30 minutes ago. The good part is coming trust me lol . My boss says I (meaning him) will go look at it so all 4 of us walk over she sits down and states that those damn pesky “muffler bearings” he now has a grin from ear to ear know I told her that her boss is looking at us like WTF. Pc boots fine my boss is looking around and just brushes me and directs my attention to the ceiling I looked up and almost died laughing there is a security camera right there pointed at her desk. So we leave about a hour goes by they both come back the boss says she went to make a copy and came back and the users tells her it just died (again those damn pesky muffler bearings) so we start walking over he asks her if it gave her the BSOD she tells him she doesnt know what that is. So he says wait come here we walk into the Comm Room he states “lets review the tape” the user gives us a look like tape what type of tape lol he rewinds the tape as it is playing and there she is turning the pc off I had to walk away didnt see her the rest of the day and hopefully she wont be back..
